About

I am a graduate of Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas where I received my B.A. in Political Science.  I then received my law degree from South Texas College of Law in Houston, Texas.  I was licensed to practice law in Texas in 2001, prior to moving to Colorado Springs.  I worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County (Houston), Texas and at a civil litigation defense firm.  In 2003, I was licensed to practice law in Colorado and joined the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in El Paso and Teller Counties.

During my tenure at the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office I worked in most of the Office’s units including the Special Victims Unit which dealt with sexual assault cases involving adult and child victims, in both El Paso and Teller Counties’ District Courts prosecuting felony crimes, the Juvenile Division which handled misdemeanor and felony cases involving juvenile defendants, and the County Court Division which dealt with misdemeanor cases including domestic violence cases as well as traffic cases with an emphasis on DUI prosecution.

In 2008, I was promoted to Senior Deputy District Attorney.   During my time as a Senior DDA I managed the County Court Division where I supervised 13 Deputy District Attorneys who handled over 30,000 cases annually with the majority of the cases dealing with DUI charges and Domestic Violence charges.  Later I was appointed as a supervisor in District Court where I supervised 6 Deputy District Attorneys who prosecuted all levels of Felony charges ranging from simple drug possession cases up to serious home invasion cases.  During my last several years at the District Attorney’s Office, I specialized in prosecuting violent and complex crimes including homicide cases.  I am a seasoned trial attorney who has successfully tried numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials in Colorado and Texas.

I am very familiar with Colorado’s criminal statutes and case law.  I have taught at numerous police and sheriff department training academies in the areas of search and seizure, criminal confessions, and yearly criminal case law updates. In addition, I’ve taught entry level prosecutors in the areas of trial preparation, jury selection, direct examination, cross examination, and evidence presentation.

I left the District Attorney’s Office to focus on a law practice specializing in Wills, Trusts, and Estate Planning along with continuing in the practice area of Criminal Law.  I am also available to represent respondents in juvenile criminal proceedings.

Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region have been my home since 2003 and I truly believe in supporting my local community.  I am a member of St. George’s Anglican Church.  I am also a proud supporter of the Young Life ministry.  I am a soccer coach for the Pride Soccer Club.  I belong to the El Paso County Bar Association as well as the Colorado Bar Association.
